Alex Eastman, DVM
Originally from Hollywood, CA, Dr. Eastman received her DVM degree at the University of California, Davis, in 1997. Prior to that she completed a Masters program at Cal Poly Pomona. Dr. Eastman is now co-owner of Steinbeck Country Equine Hospital in Salinas, CA with her husband, Dr. Tim Eastman. Her primary veterinary interests are equine reproduction as well as preventative medicine. She also spends time raising four children as well as riding her horse whenever she can.
Claudia Sonder, DVM
Claudia Sonder, DVM, a 1995 graduate of the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine serves as the Director of the Center for Equine Health at UC Davis. Sonder has been practicing equine veterinary medicine for 20 years in the Napa area and is particularly interested in lameness evaluation and treatment of performance horses. The Center for Equine Health is dedicated to advancing the health, welfare, performance and veterinary care of horses through research, education and public outreach.
Carol Ormond, DVM
Gary Hanes, DVM
Dr. Hanes is a 1978 graduate of the University of California, Davis following his undergraduate studies in physiology at the same school. He spent one year at Texas A&M University as a large animal intern, then 3 years at The Ohio State University as a resident in equine surgery. Dr. Hanes then worked at Southwest Equine Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ but eventually returned to California and became the sole owner of Briarwood Equine Clinic, located in Woodside, in 2002 where he practices general equine medicine. When not caring for patients you can usually find him on his road bike.
NORA GRENAGER, VMd, dacvim
Nora grew up on a small farm in central Pennsylvania and could always be found out in the barn with the horses. She knew she wanted to be an equine vet from a young age. Nora’s professional interests include internal medicine (especially endocrine disease, neonatal medicine, ultrasound, and cardiology), laminitis, and preventive herd health. She has written and edited numerous peer-reviewed veterinary articles and contributed to—or edited—several veterinary text books and is an active volunteer in many veterinary organizations. She loves spending time with her husband and daughter Sally doing almost anything outside (riding, hiking, running, snowboarding, kayaking) in beautiful CA.

Sarah is a member of the Class of 2020 at UC Davis SVM and the first student member of the NCAEP Board. Prior to UC Davis, she worked as a weekend technician at Bay Hill Sports Medicine Practice in the Bay Area, while working full-time as a management consultant in the high tech industry. Sarah earned a BS in economics from Duke University and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Though originally from New York, she has made northern California her home for the last several years. She is a lifelong equestrian with experience training, breeding, and showing in the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings.
Jenna's background covers the equine and pet industry with a strong emphasis on marketing, sales, and consulting. She received her degree from the University of California, Davis with a double major in economics and organizational sociology and has worked for leading companies throughout the veterinary industry. She currently consults for Idexx Laboratories as an equine digital radiography specialist. A long time horse enthusiast, Jenna has also competed in the show jumping arena.
Wallace H. Liberman, DVM
Originally from Detroit, MI, Dr. Liberman graduated from Humboldt State University in 1978 with a B.S. in Wildlife Management and a B.A. in Zoology. He then obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University in 1982, gaining licensure in Michigan, Oregon, and California. Dr. Liberman has a special emphasis in Equine Orthopedic Disease – Diagnosis, Imaging and Medical & Surgical treatment. Dr. Wally founded Panorama Equine Medical & Surgical Center in Redding, CA in 1985 and has been practicing equine medicine there ever since. In his free time, Dr. Wally can be found supporting local and regional community organizations, working the land with tractors, skiing, exploring the backcountry, or engaging in long-winded discussions about Biology with his three daughters.
NATALIE ZDIMAL, DVM
Natalie is a senior associate at Circle Oak Equine in Petaluma, California. Her practice focuses on lameness, fitness and rehabilitation. Natalie received her undergraduate and doctor of veterinary medicine degrees from the University of California, Davis and has completed a number of externships all over the world, including veterinary hospitals in Dubai, Europe and the United States. Natalie loves to learn and has completed additional certifications and attended international symposia as she strives to stay at the forefront of equine sports medicine. Outside of work, Natalie enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her husband Joel and two young daughters Cézanne and Ésme-Anne.
KELLY ZEYTOONIAN, DVM
Dr. Kelly Zeytoonian moved to the Bay Area in 2009 after earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Zeytoonian is the founder of Starwood Equine in Woodside, CA. She has a special interest in lameness and diagnostic imaging as well as business management. Community outreach and public education are also important causes for Kelly. She pursues these efforts through teaching at Foothill College, serving as a member of the Woodside Livestock and Equestrian Heritage Committee, and volunteering for the Menlo Charity Horse Show. In her spare time, she enjoys running, hiking, and skiing along with any other outdoor activities she can do with her husband and dogs.
