Dr. Orsini is board certified in surgery by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons with a special interest and expertise in orthopedic and reconstructive surgery and laminitis, amongst other surgery areas. He is course director of Clinical Pharmacology in the School of Veterinary Medicine and published extensively on equine pediatric surgery, antimicrobials, laminitis, gastric ulcers, pain, and anti-inflammatory medications and related fields with more than 400 publications.Dr. Orsini is Director of the Laminitis Institute at Penn Vet leading the research, clinical and educational components of the Institute with the goal to “conquer laminitis” by 2020!

Dr. Carrie Finno received her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota. She went on to complete a PhD in Comparative Pathology at UC Davis, and then returned to Minnesota to join their faculty as an Assistant Professor. After two years on their faculty, she once again returned to UC Davis as a faculty member in genetics and a clinical role with the Equine Medicine Service. Dr. Finno’s research is focused on companion animal genetics, particularly the genetic and environmental risk factors associated with equine neuromuscular diseases.

Clinical Assistant Professor in Large Animal Ultrasound | Tufts University, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Wade Tenney completed his veterinary studies at Colorado State University. He then went on to do complete an internship at Littleton Equine Medical Center where he stayed on as an associate veterinarian. He then joined B.W. Furlong and Associates in Oldwick, New Jersey where he practiced with a strong focus on reproduction and nuclear scintigraphy. In 2005, Dr. Tenney completed a 1-year fellowship in Large Animal Ultrasound with Dr. Mary Beth Whitcomb and Dr. Betsy Vaughan at the University of California, Davis. Following his fellowship, Dr. Tenney joined Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic and worked as a general practitioner with a strong focus on sports medicine and ultrasound. He also provided care to clients at the HITS Thermal Horse Show during the winter months. In April of 2013, Dr. Tenney joined the Large Animal Ultrasound Department at the Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. At the Hospital for Large Animals, Dr. Tenney works closely with the Sports Medicine, Internal Medicine and General Surgery services, providing diagnostic ultrasound services to horses throughout the Northeast. Dr. Tenney also spends the winter months at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida providing ultrasound consultations for performance horses in south Florida.

Michelle Coleman is a 2007 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed an internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in Lexington, KY prior to starting a residency in Large Animal Internal Medicine at Texas A&M University. Upon completion of her residency, she completed a PhD in Clinical Epidemiology with a focus on the epidemiology of equine infectious and endocrinologic disease. Dr. Coleman is currently an Assistant Professor in Large Animal Internal Medicine and an Associate Department Head for Academic Programs at Texas A&M University. Her current research focus involves the role of the gastrointestinal tract in obesity in horses.
